Hi everyone,
Welcome to our website. My Name is William Boyle and I am the new Parish Minister of Port Glasgow New Parish Church (March 2020) After six years of training, four of those at University I am delighted to have been ordained and inducted to my first charge here in Port Glasgow.
Port Glasgow has been a huge part of my ministry journey. I finished my Tesco career as a Manager in Port Glasgow and my Ministry training began in Port Glasgow with my predecessor the Rev Andrew Maclean as my supervisor. It is a town I have went back to every year of my training to conduct pulpit supply. As the years went on my calling to Port Glasgow became stronger and stronger until the day, I was able to apply, and Port Glasgow New Parish Church was still vacant. I was convinced without any doubt God wanted me to come here and I am so glad I have. The people of Port Glasgow are genuinely some of the nicest people you will ever meet and in the short time I have been in the town I couldn’t have been made to feel anymore welcome.
I love being out and about in our communities, meeting people, working alongside people such as colleagues and friends from other denominations. I love being able to spend time with our schools, nursing homes, sheltered housing and more. I love that I am invited in to people’s lives at the happy times and also the sad, as they perhaps prepare baptism and weddings or to say goodbye to a loved one. Remember a Minister will not charge to conduct a funeral and we are available for everyone who lives in the parish, not just our members. I will always help you to celebrate your loved one’s life in a personal way and offer pastoral support long after the funeral has taken place.
I am absolutely delighted to be not only the New Parish Minister in Port Glasgow but a Minister within the National Church of Scotland.
